Satellite TV - Whats The Options?

Well, there are several options available to viewers, depending on your requirements. You have the choice of Sky Digital, Fixed European Satellite & Motorised Satellite Systems. But in this article, were going to cover Sky Digital and the benefits it provides the viewer compared to the old analogue.

So, Why Sky Digital:
As opposed to the old analogue system, where you had to have a 60cm satellite dish installed, Sky Digital is now available through what is called a ?mini-dish?, which is much less of an eyesore as the conventional system.

Furthermore, Sky digital will cater for all audiences, from entertainment channels with comedy and drama?s, movies including latest releases, music channels for you to keep up to date with the latest chart releases, or listen to your favourite genre, then there?s the radio stations, cartoon channels and news/documentary stations. There is a whole list of channels, available on different packages ranging from ?15 to ?42.50 (not including additional premium channels) per month.

What else can Sky do? Well, there?s

The Interactive Services:
The interactive services provided by Sky (telephone connection required and charged at a per minute rate) give the viewer the option to purchase goods through their Sky Digital Receiver.

By pressing a button on their controller, you will access the interactive services page, and then can choose whether to go shopping for goods, from a range of stores you can find on the high street and online, so you?ll never have to leave your sofa again!

If your not interested in shopping but after entertainment, there are a range of games available to play, as well as competitions to participate in, a friends & dating section, and also a health and lifestyle section providing information on a wide range of related issues. You can also check availability and what?s on at your local cinema!

The Sky+ & Multi Room Systems:
Ever wanted to watch a film when another film you wanted is being shown at the same time on a separate channel? We all have, and it is frustrating, having to choose which of the two your going to watch.

Well, with Sky+, you?ll have that problem no more. You can keep up-to-date with your favourite soap, and record another programme at the same time, and it will be stored in your Sky+ receiver?s Hard Drive for viewing later. No more will you and your partner have to argue on who is going to miss their programme this week!

Sky+ also gives the viewer the ability to pause what you?re watching. No, not just the recording, but what your watching in ?real time? can be stopped. So, when you receive those annoying sales calls in the middle of the night, and your just getting into your film and don?t want to miss any of it, you can now hit pause, answer the call then get back to film and carry on where you left of! Then when the film is ended, switch back to real-time to carry on viewing as normal.

With Sky+, an upgrade to your dish will have to me made, and a new receiver will have to be installed, which will have an integrated hard drive to record your programmes.

With the dish upgraded, you will also be able to have your existing box moved to another room in your property, so if your family want to watch cartoons, and your more interested in a film or the news, you can watch both, at the same time, in separate rooms (additional monthly fee?s will apply). This is called Sky Multiroom.

This can be extended as much as you want, providing you have the correct equipment installed.

Freesat From Sky:
Not want to pay a subscription, but still want Digital TV channels? Why not opt for the Freesat service available from Sky.

Very similar to a normal Sky system, but you don?t have to pay a monthly subscription, and will get a number of free digital channels (approximately 200) for your viewing pleasure.

Sky HD:
Sky HD is ?High Definition? Television broadcast from Sky. Not familiar with HD?

HD or HDTV is the latest generation of digital TV, providing life-like picture quality, at least four times superior to current standards. It will provide extremely clear and fine picture detail with richer colours, improving the visual experience.

At launch, HDTV is thought to be available from Sky. In order to view programmes broadcast in 'High Definition', a soon to be released HDTV Sky Receiver with Sky+ technology will be required. In addition, the benefit of High Definition will only be apparent through a HDTV television (ideally plasma or LCD).

Please note, not all Plasma & LCD televisions currently available are HDTV compatible. It is expected to become available in the first quarter of 2006. http://www.aerial-satellites.co.uk One of the UK's largest independant TV Aerial & Satellite TV Installation Companies.

Getting To Know Your Satellite TV Receiver

DirecTV and other satellite TV systems offer more options in daily television viewing. Satellite TV receiver is accompanied by all TV systems required for completed installation. Satellite TV receiver is manufactured by several reputed companies like Phillips etc. A satellite TV receiver has control hub for all the audio and video equipment which is pre-owned by any consumer. It is easily connected to any appliance with the existing cables.

In some cases in order to connect a satellite TV receiver the phone line may need to be split if there is any DSL connection in the house. The rear panel of a satellite TV receiver comes with all important card access, the receiver ID number, AC power input, phone jack, Dolby digital outputs, antenna input (if you wish to connect to an off satellite antenna or analog cable system), TV/VCR output, S-Video Output, and Component Video Output and the Sat In, which connects the coaxial cable from the satellite dish antenna. The instruction manual gives all the information you need for anyone installing it themselves.

The complete system of installing a Satellite TV along with a satellite TV receiver comes with user manual, power supply cord, phone cord, RF Coaxial cable, RCA type Audio/ Video connecting cable, S-Video connecting cable, Telephone Cord, Access card, and the Infrared Universal Remote control with 2 AA batteries. This all is accompanied by the Satellite direct TV dish.

Some times satellite TV receiver may get overheated. This may cause the decoder messages to disappear at times. It may also seem that the satellite TV receiver has gone dead. Since overheating is a main surge in satellite TV receiver it may be overcome by placing two capacitors on the power supply board. These capacitors should be replaced for reliability before the working of satellite TV receiver comes to a total halt.

Satellite TV receiver can be for analogue communication signals or digitally compressed signals. There is only one company that currently manufactures a satellite TV receiver that can process both analogue and digital signals. Analogue satellite TV receiver processes signals in analogue format. For an analogue satellite TV receiver one must need to remember the actual settings required to tune in all the channels and communication. Analogue satellite TV receiver can be stand alone unit. It is usually cheaper but can receive signals from only one satellite. An analogue satellite TV receiver has built in antenna controller which can steer a motorized dish from one satellite to another.

Main job on any satellite TV receiver is to maximize the strength of incoming signals from the satellite. This job is done equally well by an analogue satellite TV receiver or a digital satellite TV receiver. Multi-mode switches allow one satellite TV receiver to provide video to more than one house.

Satellite TV receiver comes with various features such as advanced program guide, parental controls, multi-satellite capabilities, universal remote, etc. Digital satellite TV receiver has digital audio output and can record up to seventy hours. They also have a built in DVR and season pass function, wish list function, etc.

May it be analogue satellite TV receiver or digital satellite TV receiver both work with the satellite TV set up to give the best quality of signals received from the satellite from various channels. Cable vs. Satellite TV - Which Is The Better Choice?

When considering cable vs. satellite TV it can be incredibly confusing, especially with so many commercials touting one system over the other. They both promise lots of perks such as pay-per-view and other features, and each service provider declares they are the best buy for your money. But there really is no comparison ? satellite TV service providers simply give you the best value for your money across the country.

In order to understand what you are getting for your money, make sure you ask plenty of questions when you compare cable TV and satellite TV. Don?t simply rely on advertising hype and your local cable service provider?s promises.

Why is Satellite TV Better Than Cable? So Many Reasons!

Many people don?t realize how much is offered with today?s satellite TV systems, assuming that they will be expensive or difficult to install. Not so! In fact, most of today?s top satellite TV companies such as service providers Dish Network and DirecTV, will come to your home and do the installation at no extra charge once you have a contract.

Your options are also greater with satellite TV vs. cable ? most of the larger companies offer their services just about anywhere you can imagine, whether you live high in the mountains, remotely located from the world where no cable reaches, or in a crowded city. Being national companies rather than small, locally owned cable services also means you will benefit from quality service at lower prices. It also ensures you are getting the benefit of state-of-the-art technology. Many cable companies today are either replacing old cable or struggling to keep up while satellite TV providers are forging into the future.

Of course, in the final analysis, it all comes down to quality of programming and service reliability when you compare cable and satellite TV providers.

Here are a few things you should know about satellite TV:

FREE Equipment - Take advantage of a free satellite TV system and FREE installation. You can also purchase or lease your equipment depending on what is best for your needs.

TiVo - TiVo is available only through satellite TV providers and enables you to record, rewind and pause your programming.

HDTV - High Definition programming is always available and not dependent on location and company like it is with cable.

Pay-Per-View - There are twice as many Pay-per-View stations and the sports coverage is much more complete ? with no black-outs for local stations.

Programming - There are more programming packages and options for you to choose from, so you can tailor something that suits your tastes.

Customer Service - Customer service ranks consistently higher than with cable TV.

Value - Value for the money is superior ? dollar for dollar, you?ll get more channels and a better variety of options with satellite TV than most other cable service providers can provide.
Cable Television vs. Satellite TV is an easy choice once you compare services and know the facts. Millions of people have switched to satellite TV providers DirecTV and the Dish Network and more sign up every week. The best value for your dollar is clear ? High Definition Television - Who Has The Lead In The Satellite TV Market?

Directv HDTV versus the high definition option through your satellite dish network. Which do you go with? In many ways, Direct TV and the Dish Network are comparable like with similar programming and similar pricing structures. But who offers the best service and quality in high definition television? First of all, let?s find out exactly what high definition television (aka HDTV) is and if you would even want that option in your TV satellite dish system.

Clarity is what most people think of when they think of HDTV. The picture quality is outstanding and many people have exclaimed that it is like they walked right into the TV, as if it was part of our world. The picture on the screen is so life-like; you could almost feel that sun on the TV shining on you or could almost feel the blades of grass beneath your feet as if you were in the TV show yourself. The sound that accompanies the high definition picture is also very life-like. It is digital sound, not analog, so it is almost like having your CD player inside your TV.

Both the Directv HDTV and the one that the Dish Network offers are similar. The clarity of the picture is about ten times better than an analog broadcast. The format of the shows and movies you watch through the HDTV programming is a wide screen format, much like what you experience at a movie theater. The audio feed of the programming you watch via HDTV is digital - that means, it is crisp and clear.

The difference between the Directv HDTV and the Dish Network?s version is a matter of programming. Depending on what you are looking for in satellite TV?s programming will influence your choice of these two rivals. So, let?s do a quick comparison of the two. The Dish Network offers a few more channels in high definition TV than does Direct TV. Several movies channels and news channels are in HDTV as are a few sports channels and pay per view movies. In other programming offerings, they are more global, offering extra foreign markets.

Directv HDTV does not have quite a many HDTV channels, but if you are a sports fan, the Directv option may be the best bet for you. While the Dish Network?s HDTV programming does offer some sports, your Direct satellite TV in high definition has more sports options, including the NFL Sunday Ticket, the Holy Grail for the football fanatic. Football widows despised the day that HDTV came out, that is for sure! Not only does the Directv HDTV have great sport coverage, it also has a few major networks that Dish Network does not have like Fox and NBC.

So, if the sports thing is not for you and you appreciate the more international flavor the Dish Network has to offer in regards to high definition TV, then they are the logical choice. However, if the sports are a major selling point for you, then the Directv HDTV is the way you should go. The Great Migration From Cable To Satellite TV

What you are about to read should not come as a shock to you, especially if you are a subscriber of cable TV.

Comcast Corp, the dominant cable provider in the nation, has raised cable TV rates for the third time in three years The rates will go up about 6 to 7 percent, depending upon where you live. Other cable providers, like RCN, have also raised rates by about 8 percent.

7 percent is double the rate of inflation. Comcast's prices have risen three times faster than inflation since 2000.

Although cable price increases have moderated in recent years from the double-digit hikes of the 1990s, many research analysts predict that costs will keep going up.

"Operational costs" are the culprits for the rate hikes. "Operational costs" include energy costs, improvements in customer service and network maintenance. Cable companies have millions of miles of outdated lines buried below ground, and are in the process of converting their technology to digital, which will be expensive. Comcast spent nearly $200 million in the past year to maintain and enhance its fiber-optic network in the Bay Area alone.

More Facts

Cable rates have climbed 40 percent in the past six years, from an average $34.40 in 2000 to the $47.93 just announced for 2006. During that same period, inflation increased 14.3 percent, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Is it any wonder why the sale of satellite tv is increasing?

There are about 65 million homes nationwide with cable TV, a number expected to decline to 61 million by 2008. DirecTV accounts for 15 million subscribers and EchoStar's Dish Network for 12 million.

Because satellite providers don't have to pay taxes levied by local governments and feature smaller infrastructures, consumers get more bang for the buck with satellite.

With cable, additional charges are typically assessed for installation and equipment. These charges range from $30 to $80. Satellite Tv offers free instulation, free movie channels, and free upgrades, usually as an incentive to get customers to sign up for their services.

More pros of a satellite dish.

* Digital picture means better quality
* More flexible programming options
* Cost is cheaper per channel
* Good solution for those living in rural areas

According to a J.D. Power study, the average cost of satellite service is about 4% less than cable. Satellite subscribers
save an average of about $2.00 monthly compared to cable.

So, as the rates for the cable companies continue to rise,
you can expect comsumers to continue the migration to
satellite tv. Van Whitsett has published a number of articles, both online and off. For more information about satellite tv, please visit: Discount Dish Network.

Get the right satellite TV providers: A checklist for satellite TV buyers

Nowadays, the expansion rate of satellite TV had beaten cable TV greatly. Recent polls show some common reasons being superior picture quality, larger selection of channels and programs, increased availability, good customer service and the continuing drop in price.

From the popularity angle, we can see that cable TV is having a bigger market segments as they are the pioneer in the paid TV business. However, satellite TV services are less expensive, provide better picture quality (digital signal) and give more programming choices to their users. Perhaps this is the reason why satellite TV had been listed as one of the fastest growing products in United States. We predict that this rapid growing trend will remain the same pace for the next 5 years. As for consumer's view of angle, satellite TV deals seems to be the better deal to go for.

However, with any hot product come the scammers. Hundreds or even thousands of "free satellite TV" websites had popped up; claming to offer the best satellite TV deals and promotions. Most of these scams offer a fake promise on their deals. Extremely low monthly subscription rates, next-day installation, and unlimited number of free satellite systems are some of the common promotion terms. However, once a customer signs up they find hidden activation fees, high delivery costs for free extras, installation dates continuously missed or pushed back, as well as shocking cancellation fees.

Satellite TV buyers should always beware of all these scammers and do not fall into their traps. Satellite TV deals can be a huge bargains or a scary nightmare and it all depends on the satellite TV retailers that you pick. To avoid these troubles, you must be prepared to do some study before getting into the deal. Understand clearly all the buying terms, avoid confusion by the promotion wordings, and select only dependable satellite TV providers (retailers).

What happen when someone place his/her order on satellite TV services via online retailers?

You place an order with an online satellite TV system retailer. You will then choose the number of satellite system you wished to receive. Standard online satellite TV deals will offer you up to 4 free satellite systems along with certain incentive gifts like DVD player or home theater systems.

At the time of ordering you will schedule a time that a local professional installer can come to your home and install the system. You do not need to choose your programming packages at the time of order. For example when you are ordering the Dish Network deals, you can always order your Dish Network systems first and decide your programming package later. Instructions for ordering your Dish Network programming will be sent with your systems.

You will need to call Dish Network's toll-free number (24/7 all year long) after your installation is completed. A customer service representative will help you activate all the programming you would like. The satellite system will either be shipped to your home before the installation date or the installer will bring it with them. In normal case, shipping cost and standard installation fees are free of charge.

How should I know the satellite TV retailer is dependable?

Both Dish Network and DirecTV had several authorized online retailers assigned and you are always recommended to order your satellite systems from them. Remember! Only order your satellite TV from authorized dealers.
Further more, to get a dependable online dealer, we suggest checklist below as the minimum requirements.

This page: http://www.satellitetvissue.com/freesatellites/dealers.html would be a good place to start on with a filtered list of satellite TV providers.

Requirements on good online satellite TV retailers:

<ul> <li> In satellite TV business for more than 1 year.</li> <li>Websites must provide secure order page and certified website.</li> <li>Must be authorized by Dish Network or DirecTV officials.</li> <li>No "hidden" fees- cost charged on credit card is shown clearly.</li> <li>Customer service available via phone, live chats or email.</li> <li>100% guaranteed. (Full refund if installation fails).</li> <li>Testimonial, users review, as well as other authority sites recommendation would be a plus point.</li> </ul>

Cheap Satellite TV -- Who Has the Best Deals?

Just a few years ago there was no such thing as a cheap satellite TV system. A decent system cost anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000 for a satellite TV dish and the array of electronic boxes that came with it. Not only that, it cost hundreds of dollars to have a big-dish satellite TV system installed.

Today, because the satellite TV industry has become so competitive, dealers are giving away satellite TV systems to entice people to subscribe to their satellite TV service.

Even the installation is free.

So when it comes to finding a cheap TV system, you're in luck. They're not just cheap, they're free.

Satellite TV Systems

Here?s what you get when you subscribe to either DISH Network or DIRECTV's satellite TV service:

* A free satellite TV dish and mounting stand.
* Up to four free satellite TV receivers plus universal remote controls.
* Free professional installation of your system in up to four rooms of your home.
* Free DVR (digital video recording) receivers so you can record your favorite programs.
* HDTV satellite TV receivers (optional) for high definition reception.

Visit http://www.TheSatelliteTVGuide.com to see the latest offers.

Cheap Satellite TV Service

When it comes to satellite TV service, you can pay anywhere from $31.99 a month for 60 channels of programming, on up to $93.99 a month for 215 channels.

Both DISH Network or DIRECTV's satellite TV service includes the following:

* More than 225 program channels with digital-quality picture and sound.
* Up to 500 commercial-free movies per month.
* DVR (digital video recording) so you can bypass commercials and record your favorite programs.
* HD (high definition) programming.
* Up to 60 pay-per-view programs per day.
* Your local channels with digital picture and sound.
* Commercial-free music channels with all-digital sound.
* Toll-free and online 24/7 customer service.

Note: DISH Network and DIRECTV offer special introductory programming rates for new customers. Click on the links below for current offers.

The Bottom Line

Getting the cheapest price for satellite TV depends on whether you want the cheapest service, or you want the cheapest price per channel.

DISH Network has the cheapest satellite TV service. Their starter package -- America's Top Sixty -- gives you 60 channels of satellite TV programming, including your local channels, for $31.99 per month.

DIRECTV's Total Choice program package offers the cheapest price per channel at $0.31 per channel ($41.99 ? 135 channels). In addition to 135 program channels, you also get your local channels and 31 music channels.

If television is your primary form of entertainment and you want a wide variety of shows, movies, sports, and news ... if you're tired of fuzzy reception and want digital-quality picture and sound ... if your cable bill is beginning to equal your mortgage payment -- then I think you'll find satellite TV is a real bargain.

Overview on satellite TV systems

Even if you watch your satellite television 5 hours a day, I bet you can't tell what a satellite TV system really is.
Satellite television is TV broadcast delivered by way of orbiting communications satellites located 22,300 miles above the earth's surface. Satellite TV system, like other communications relayed by satellite, starts with a transmitting satellite antenna located at an uplink facility. Uplink satellite dishes are directed toward the satellite that its signals will be transmitted to, and are very large, as much as 9 to 12 meters (30 to 40 feet) in diameter.

There are mainly two types of satellite TV systems: TVRO and DBS. TVRO system, aka Television Receive Only, is the first satellite system available for home satellite viewing system. While the DBS system, Direct Broadcast Satellite is available later. These two satellite systems work in different band (C-band and Ku-band) and their working system specifications are quite a different.

Television Receive Only (TVRO) systems

TVRO systems in United States are often referred as Big Dish TV, C-Band Satellite TV or BUD (Big Ugly Dish). It was the first satellite TV system being commercialized and brought into the U.S. families.

Viewing TVRO broadcast requires a big and movable dish - which is why it is well known as big dish TV. The TVRO dish's diameter ranged from 3 to 6 feet. It works in C-Band with frequencies of around 4 GHz. As news companies normally transmit their materials to their headquarters using a C-Band satellite; and as many of these types of feeds are not scrambled, chances to unedited news are great. Besides with TVRO systems, you can also receive free channels and independent feeds from for instance news companies.

Ever wonder why do we need such a big dish to receive TVRO signals? It's because of TVRO's wave length of these frequencies is longer than in Ku-Band which requires a much smaller dish of about 18 inches. Ku-Band, which is used by DBS, is at 12 to 14 G Hertz.

Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) system

Satellite TV services were popular only after Direct Broadcast Satellite system is introduced. DBS is meant for everyone with a simple, low cost installation of the system. Small dish, maintenance-free, and stable signals receptions -- all these makes the satellite TV system a good commercial product.

Satellite broadcast via DBS system is done in the Ku-Band. These satellites work on higher frequencies and can transmit higher power signals. This is why smaller dishes can be used to receive satellite signal for DBS systems.
As you might know, a small TV dish of 18 inches is already good enough to receive all satellite TV signals by Satellite companies. This makes it possible to have satellite TV from an apartment on the 10th floor, if you have a clear line of sight to the south. Once installed the dish needs no maintenance since it is aimed at just one satellite. Some dishes actually have 2 or more feeds, which makes it possible to receive the signals from more than 1 satellite.

Unfortunately, there are no free channels available on DBS satellites broadcast. DBS broadcasting are often owned and used by the satellite TV provider (for example, Dish Network and DirecTV) it self. Often the installation is for free as it really is very easy to do. The only thing that is needed is a bit of knowledge of where to find the satellite thus a qualified installer will find the satellite and point it to maximum reception within minutes.

Currently in United States, Dish Network and DirecTV are the major DBS systems provides. As satellite TV services are the latecomer in home TV broadcasting services, they are now fighting hard to win the market segments with extremely low prices. Free satellite TV systems, free DVR systems, free DVD players, free shipping, free installations, free HD upgrades, free home protection plans ...they give free things as much as possible! All you need to be to qualify the deals condition is you must commit on the satellite TV deals for one year and you must be a first-time customer. With extremely low start up cost, online satellite TV retailers are now offering some very lucrative offers. What makes satellite TV so great anyway?

#TITLE#Will You, Too, Join the Cult of Satellite TV?#/TITLE#

Have you ever noticed how satellite TV subscribers seem to live in groups? Really...take a look at a subdivision, and notice how 5-6 dish owners all live next to one another - it's like some sort of weird cult when you think about it! I have seen entire subdivisions go "the way of the dish" in a few short months. So why does this "grouping" phenomenon seem to happen with satellite TV?

There aren't any doctoral theses on the subject, but I would like to offer an educated guess: Basically, people are fed up with cable. And hey, an odd-looking satellite TV dish perched atop your neighbor's roof one day is bound to spark your curiosity. After striking up a conversation and hearing about all the great things that a dish satellite TV system has to offer subscribers, it is easy to see how a domino effect could start in a neighborhood. Once one brave soul decides to take the plunge and subscribe to satellite TV, the rest will soon follow. It's just a theory, but I think we might just have a story here, Houston.

Are you bored with the selection offered by your cable provider or just plain tired of paying through the nose for the channels you actually watch? A dish satellite TV system provides viewers with a greater selection of channels for less money than cable - period. Cable companies may try to lure customers in with low introductory rates, but they always rise after a few short months - and hey, why should you pay more for worse selection with cable, when satellite TV gives more for less?

Oh come now...there has to be a catch around here somewhere!

Hey, that's smart thinking! And yes, there are always tradeoffs when choosing satellite TV over cable. The first is that a dish satellite TV system tends to lose signal during storms. Without question, that could really put you in a bad mood if you get cut off while watching the latest episode of 'Desperate Housewives'. But the good news is that satellite TV technology continues to improve, so the weather will cease to be an issue within a very short time. Although subscribers to satellite TV do have to put up with lost signal every once in awhile, the same can be said of cable - and the extra channels and lower cost more than compensate for this inconvenience.

The second major drawback of satellite TV is the lack of local programming. Personally, I never bother with the local news anyway, and I'm not a big high school football fan, so the lack of these local channels on my dish satellite TV system doesn't bother me. But some satellite TV companies are making deals with local programming affiliates in larger markets to help eliminate this gripe. Still, it is another disadvantage of using satellite TV instead of cable. Can you live without those local channels? Probably...at least for a week or two!

Satellite providers are addressing the two main complaints against a dish satellite TV system. But even if you accept these two drawbacks to satellite TV, the advantages simply outweigh the problems. And besides - satellite TV is the future. So don't be surprised if you find yourself joining the Cult of Satellite TV one day - even if you are a die-hard cable fan - because the technology continues to improve, and the problems become fewer.

The Dish on Satellite TV

The evolution of television has seen dramatic acceleration recently. Satellite TV has truly revolutionized the global viewing experience. You no longer have to rely on awkward rabbit ear antennae to bring viewing pleasure. Satellite dishes have become as ubiquitous as the roof antenna was in the early years. The world can now be accessed through numerous, and diverse channels, and programming.

The number of options available with satellite television is overwhelming. Since the broadcast signals used in satellite television are digital, as compared with old analog, the results are crystal clear audio and visual transmissions. Broadcasts can be done in HDTV, or high definition television, which is the latest television technology. Digital transmissions allow a greater degree of flexibility for broadcasters.

In addition to picture and sound excellence, there is a virtual library of movies, sporting events, and news programs to choose from. More than the basic channels of yesteryear. Satellite receivers, when put together with the properly built and positioned satellite dish, hook up with access to more than 225 digital-quality channels. The receiver can also provide an on-screen program guide that can be customized to suit viewers needs. The receiver also has a built-in "Locks and Limits" feature, which gives control to limit channels or programs.

More recently, a spectacular Digital Video Recording feature, DVR, has emerged. This gives the viewer the ability to record, replay, and splice programming scenes as many times, and in as many ways, as desired. That's what the combination of HDTV and DVR will give: complete control.

Unlike commercial television, which broadcasts free programming, satellite television is not without cost. To get satellite TV, you need a dish antenna, and a receiver designed to work with the chosen service. You can buy the hardware from the satellite company, an electronics store, or a satellite-system dealer/installer for about $100 and up. There is a monthly subscription fee, in addition to the cost of the hardware; this varies according to the level of service. In the past, bad weather could adversely effect the signals, however new technology and improvements have made this a rare issue.

All considered, satellite television is an investment well worth it. Satellite service can include you in a world revolution that is changing the face of how information and entertainment is done in this world. The sky is the limit with satellite services, literally, when it comes to speed, features, and innovation.

Here's what you get when you subscribe to either DISH Network or DIRECTV's satellite TV service:

* A free satellite TV dish and mounting stand.

* Up to four free satellite TV receivers plus universal remote controls.

* Free professional installation of your system in up to four rooms of your home.

* Free DVR (digital video recording) receivers so you can record your favorite programs.

* HDTV satellite TV receivers (optional) for high definition reception.

Note: DISH Network and DIRECTV offer bonus gifts such as a free DVD player and home theater system when you order their service. Click on the links below to see the latest offers.

* HD (high definition) programming.

* Up to 60 pay-per-view programs per day. * Your local channels with digital picture and sound.

* Commercial-free music channels with all-digital sound. * Toll-free and online 24/7 customer service.

Satellite TV Systems -- Which One is Best?

Satellite TV System

A satellite TV system consists of a dish that captures the TV signal broadcast from a satellite, and a receiver that amplifies the signal and sends it to a television.

Less than 10 years ago, satellite TV systems consisted of a huge satellite dish, about the size of a flying saucer, and an array of black boxes that required an electronic technician to set up. Not only that, they were expensive, costing anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000.

We've come a long way since then. Now, satellite dishes are the size of a large Frizbee, the receiver is the size of a notebook, and using the system is as easy as operating a microwave.

And the best news of all is that today's systems won't cost you a penny. Thanks to the ongoing competition between satellite TV dealers, they'll give you a complete satellite TV system for free when you subscribe to their satellite TV service.

Benefits of a Satellite TV System

Here are the benefits of having a satellite TV system:

* You have the option of viewing up to 256 channels of programming.

* Satellite TV is broadcast in an all-digital format for the clearest picture and sound available. * Satellite TV systems include DVR (digital video recording) so you can record your favorite shows.

* You can get HD (high definition) receivers that allow you to watch your shows in HD format.

* Satellite TV is the more reliable than cable or over-the-air TV, with less blackouts and fewer picture problems.

* Customer service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

DISH Network Satellite TV System

Here's what you get when you order DISH Network satellite TV service:

* A free satellite TV dish with mounting hardware.

* Up to four free receivers plus universal remotes.

* Free DVR (digital video recording) receivers.

* Free HD satellite TV receivers (optional).

* Free professional installation in up to four rooms of your home.

* A one-year warranty on your satellite TV system.

DIRECTV Satellite TV System

Here's what you get when you order DIRECTV satellite TV service:

* A free satellite TV dish with mounting hardware.

* Up to four free receivers plus universal remotes. * Free professional installation in up to four rooms of your home.

* DVR receivers -- free after a $99 rebate.

* HDTV satellite TV receivers (optional), $199 per receiver.

* A one-year warranty on your satellite TV system.

Satellite TV Service

In order to get a free satellite TV system you have to subscribe to a satellite TV service:

DISH Network offers four program packages. Prices start at $31.99 per month for their basic package which has 60 channels, and go up to $86.99 for their top-of-the-line package which has 230 channels.

DIRECTV offers three program packages. Prices start at $41.99 per month for their basic package which has 135 channels, including 31 music channels, and go up to $93.99 for their top-of-the-line package which has 185 channels.

Both services also have movie channels, sports packages, foreign language programming, adult programming, HDTV packages, and pay-per-view channels.

Bottom Line

When it comes to which satellite TV system is the best, it's six-of-one, a half-dozen-of the other. Both systems are state-of-the-art and have enough features to please even the most fanatical electronics buff.

But when it comes to additional features such as DVR and HD receivers, or different dishes to accommodate HD receivers and specialized TV channels, price differences can be significant.

Dish Network deals A to Z: avoid satellite TV online scams!

Recent years we have seen an explosion of people choosing satellite over cable or satellite TV. Consumer surveys and polls show some common reasons being superior picture quality, larger selection of channels and programs, increased availability, good customer service and the continuing drop in price. As Dish Network stands as one of the most popular satellite TV providers in the states, examining on their deals is a must for one who is looking for some satellite TV deals.

1. Who is Dish Network anyway?

Owned by Echostar Communication Cooperation, Dish Network was licensed in March 1996 and currently dish up to 11 million satellite TV customers. With up to 256 TV channels served in three major packages (Dish Network All American Top 60s, 120s, and 180s), Dish Network provides a wide programming selection to the subscribers.

2. Are Dish Network deals offering free satellite TV systems for real?

Yes, you do can get free Dish Network satellite TV systems, provided that you must be a first time customer and you MUST commit to at least one-year service contract with Dish Network. The basic free satellite TV systems includes up to 4 receivers (common model: Dish 311) with remote controls, Dish Network access card, and a satellite dish to be installed facing the north. Some dealers will give out extra incentive gifts such as DVR system, DVD player, home theater sets and free movie channels for certain periods. Thus, picking up the right Dish Network dealer is important. We highly recommend ordering Dish Network deals online, as they are the one who can afford the best bargains for you.
Click here for Dish Network online dealer's review.

3. Why get Dish Network from online dealers?

Just a simple reason: Bargains. As Dish Network online dealer's operating cost is extremely low compared to brick and mortar satellite TV stores, online Dish Network dealers manage to focus their model in providing the cheapest deals as well as building up strong customer support network.

Check out other Dish Network dealers on the list by your own, you will soon find those online Dish Network deals are just incredible.

4. Do I need to install the dish my self?

No, but you can if you want to. Standard Dish Network installation is free of charge, so why take the hassles?

5. What I need to do to get a Dish Network system?

To order Dish Network services, you need to approach Dish Network dealers to select the number of satellite systems, programming packages, HD upgrading, DVR upgrading, and other supplementary deals. Shipping and installation will be done very soon after the order is placed.

A cost of $50 will be charged as deposit when you place your order. This fees will then credited back to your Dish Network monthly bills thus starting up Dish Network services basically is free.

6. So how do they make money?

Pretty simple: the subscription fees. To get your free Dish Network satellite TV, you have to commit to a one-year subscription contract when you get into Dish Network. Infact, this is the current trend of the satellite TV buisness -- both Dish Network and DirecTV are making money through the subscription fees in long term.

7. What are the different methods for paying my Dish Network bill?

One-time Credit Card Payments

You can make secure online payments using Dish Network Customer Support Center. This FREE service works with any major credit or debit card and posts to your account immediately.
You can also make payments by calling Dish Network Automated Phone System at 1-800-333-3474 and follow the voice prompts. If you have a 3900, 4900, 111, 301, 311, 322, or DVR501/508/510 receiver, you may also make a payment through Dish Home (channel 100). If services are interrupted, the services will be restored usually within 5-10 minutes once a payment is made.

Credit Card Auto-pay (CCA)

This feature deducts your monthly charges from your credit or debit card on the due date. You may choose to discontinue paper bills or continue to receive the statements (You will not need to send a payment should you choose to continue receiving these statements.). Please be sure to pay the current balance when you sign up. As CCA will take one full billing cycle to take effect, this will help prevent a late fee from being charged.

8. What is the best Dish Network setup?

2-rooms set up; 3-rooms set up; HDTV set up ... getting confused?

The best hardware set up really depends on your visualize and your location. Most people will be perfectly served by the multi-room systems right now. All the necessary equipment for up to 4 rooms, plus the installation, plus Digital Video Recorders are yours for the taking, FREE.

In this package, with just $50 of start up fees (which they will credit back your account for the same amount), you are ready to enjoy your Dish Network. As mention before, these satellite TVs equipments are given life time warranty; you won't have to worry about receivers or dishes breaking down.

Same thing if you want to receive Dish Network HD programs. Until recently you had to buy special equipment (known as the Superdish) to receive high definition signals. Now you don't even have to -- Regular receivers (those that are freely given) like the HD-811 and the HD-DVR 921, can get all HD content.

If you want to get international programming - the strong set of Dish Network - you will have to buy an additional dish antenna at the cost of $99 (at the time of writing).

9. How does Dish Network scores when compare to DirecTV?

Interestingly, the satellite system services offered by both DIRECTV and DISH Network are practically interchangeable -- both offer more than 200 program channels, integrated digital video recording (DVR) capabilities, high definition TV (HDTV) capabilities, stunning picture and sound quality and award-winning 24-hour customer service departments.

Where they differ is in pricing and programming. Dish Network packages are a little more cheaper, however DirecTV covers more sports channels. Programming wise, Dish Network offers more International and movie channels.

10. How about the Internet scams?

Unfortunately, with any hot product on Internet come the scammers.

Online ordering satellite TV deals sounds great. However, consumers should also aware that there are risks hidden when ordering your satellite TV deals online: Fraudulent websites.

There are hundreds or even thousands of scammers in the satellite TV online business, claiming to offer the best satellite dish deals and promotions. Their websites might look professional to lure unsuspecting customers. Most of these scams offer a fake promise on their deals. Extremely low monthly subscription rates, next-day installation, and unlimited number of free satellite systems are some of the common promotion terms. But once a customer signs up they find hidden activation fees, high shipping costs for free extras, installation dates continuously missed or pushed back, as well as outrageous cancellation fees.
Hundreds of "Satellite TV" websites have popped up, Buyers should always beware of all these scammers and do not fall into their traps. Satellite TV deals can be a huge bargains or a scary nightmare and it all depends on the satellite TV retailers that you pick.

If you were scared off by the statements above, DON'T! Although there are a lot of satellite TV scams over the Internet, there are still lots of bargains to be grabbed! Just beware when you place your Dish Network order, choose ONLY reputable Dish Network dealers to assure your spending are used safe.

Some basic questions to ask when selecting reliable dealers are:
Are they in business for more than 1 year?
Are the dealer certified by Dish Network official?
Is there any customer service available via phone, chat or email?
Is your deal 100% guaranteed? (Full refund if installation fails)

If you are serious about getting a Dish Network system, why not take 5 minutes and have a look on my list of reliable Dish Network retailers? Click here: http://www.satellitetvissue.com/FreeSatelliteTV/SatelliteTVDealers.htm

If you don't have a basic understanding of satellite TV and how it works, you won't get the full benefit of your Direct TV or DISH Network.

Convention television and Satellite TV work in the same manner. The radio signals send programming to a satellite that is orbiting the earth. The satellite then sends the signal to the DISH connected to user's home.

The home viewer receives more than 250 channels with this satellite technology.

Here are some things to consider before making the switch to DISHNetwork or Direct TV.

One may offer more receivers per house and the other will charge per room. This is a big consideration.

There may be a difference in cost for live sporting events.

If you are also going to use provider for internet service, there may be a difference in cost.

You do get more sports programs including NFL Sunday Ticket with Direct TV. Sports channels are broadcast in all-digital format.

You will get sets of satellite systems and home electronics free but programming services range from $32 to $94 per month. Cable TV's monthly fees are increasing a lot every year. For football fans wanting to see every NFL game, Direct TV is better. For normal family viewing, DISH Network seems to be the choice. If you only watch a few shows a week and have access to over the air TV, satellite TV probably isn't the choice for you.
